Shelby Landscapes Ltd

Marple based Shelby Landscapes Ltd has supported our Family Treasure Hunt for the last two years as a MEGA Sponsor and in 2023 they added the exciting bonus offer of a day's help in the park. They do all aspects of landscape gardening and can do everything from cleaning your patio / drive all the way to completely reshaping and designing your dream garden or driveway.

Founded by local man Drew Collett, they have years of experience and say no job is too large or too small, so we had been on the lookout for the perfect opportunity to make the most of Drew's great offer. We weren't certain that moving our 4 large logs was the right one, so we did a shout out for help on social media by describing the challenge of moving them from Brabyns Park to the centre of our park. We should have know better as Drew and Shelby were the first of several local companies to offer their support to us.

The challenge was to move 4 large oak logs to the park

In response to the damage done to the silver birch tree near Lock 11 by a park neighbour in 2022 because they didn't like young people using it as a meeting place, Friends of the Park decided we wanted to repurpose four large oak logs donated by Myers Tree Care that had previously been earmarked for another project. The logs had been stored at Brabyns Park for a pre-Pandemic project that didn't work out, so creating some new informal seating that can be used by young people in a safer location seemed a great way to make use of them.

After some pre-meetings with the council to work out the logistics the week before, we were delighted that Drew and his team came along on Monday 26 June 2023 to support us by transporting the logs from Brabyns Park to the locations we had marked out for them in the centre of the park with great precision.

So it's a very big thank you to Drew and Shelby Landscapes from Friends of the Park!

We hope the young people displaced by the damage to the tree they called "Sylvia" will enjoy this new location and realise that we have been thinking of them.

Mark Whittaker from Friends of the Park and Drew Collett of Shelby Landscapes are the first to try the new seating out.
